On February 15th, the 18th day of the Chinese New Year, the traditional folk activity of "Tai Wang Gong" (Carrying Wang Gong) was held in Jichang Village, Daxiqiao Town, Xixiu District, Anshun City, Guizhou Province.

"Tai Wang Gong," also known as "Tun Pu Tai Ting Zi" (Carrying the Pavilion), is a traditional folk activity held in Anshun's Tunpu villages to commemorate the birthday of Wang Gong. The event has a history of over 600 years and was listed as a Chinese national intangible cultural heritage representative item in 2014.

Wang Gong, originally named Wang Hua, was a prominent local official during the late Sui Dynasty. His administration was known for its kindness and generosity, earning the love and respect of the people. Every year, the "Tai Wang Gong" activity is a major event for villagers to pray for the protection of deities, good weather, bountiful harvests, and peace for the nation and its people.

On the day of the event, a solemn sacrificial ceremony was held at the Wang Gong Temple, followed by eight strong men carrying a statue of Wang Gong on a procession through the village. Every household in the village set up incense altars, offered sacrifices, and lit firecrackers to ceremoniously welcome the deity’s procession.

The procession featured brightly colored ancient-style floats, a waist drum troupe performing songs, and actors in painted masks performing a form of folk theatre known as "Di Xi Opera", which revives the military rituals from the Ming Dynasty.
